Janet Martin
Born in Richmond Virginia, Janet travels the world performing live concerts but remains a true east coaster; never ever more than an hour from the ocean.
Janet honed her guitar skills at an early age drawing from a wide range of influences; from the acoustic flat-pickers she used to hear as a child to the amplified electric guitar styles of Muddy Waters and Elmore James.
A whole new world opened up for her when she began listening to Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page’s use of open tunings. Janet’s acoustic sound today is due in large part to her love of open tunings; her electric guitar work deeply rooted in the blues. The combination of these different influences gives her a unique sound; she sounds like no other player; male or female.
As good a guitar player as she is, she’s an equally strong vocalist. Be it a soulful ballad or a blues rocker, Janet delivers dead on the money. She’s the real thing – see her live.
Janet begins work on her new CD in the fall of 2011 for release in the US and Europe spring 2012. Janet’s previous releases include:
Live on Mulberry St. (2011)
Passage (2009)
Step inside the Dream (2008)
On the Tracks (2006)
Cloud Cover (2005)
Just Wakin Up (2003)
Janet is a multi-published writer with over 50 original songs copy-written and administered through BMI in America. SACEM in France and Gema in Germany.
